Head of Tiberiu Popoviciu Institute of Numerical Analysis @ Romanian Academy Cluj-Napoca

Emil is the head of Tiberiu Popoviciu Institute of Numerical Analysis, Romanian Academy (founded in 1951), where fundamental research in Applied Mathematics is performed.

Here were built MARICA (1959), an experimental relay computer, and DACICC-1 (1963), DACICC-200 (1968), which were the first computers in Romania with transistors & RAM, resp. OS & compiler. This Institute is the place where the IT in Cluj-Napoca was founded.
